Its director, Grant Nirenstein, studied at UCT and completed his LLB through UNISA while working as a bartender and later a regional manager at a telecoms company. He trained at a litigation firm and then spent years at a national commercial litigation firm, where he was a director from 2013 until the end of 2020, before setting up his own practice. He is a member of SARIPA and SASLAW and has received SASLAW recognition for pro bono work. Associates Patrick van den Heever (LLB Free State, admitted 2021) and Neill Lang (UCT, admitted 2022, also a notary) joined in 2022.
Most work is High Court litigation, arbitration and settlement of business disputes, with appearances in courts and tribunals from the Labour Court and Tax Court to the Supreme Court of Appeal and Constitutional Court. The firm acts for and against insurers, including in COVID-19 business interruption claims, and handles construction, procurement, insolvency, property and commercial fraud matters. It also drafts commercial agreements, advises employers and employees and chairs disciplinary hearings.
