Founder Johan Engelbrecht (BCom LLB) is admitted as an attorney, conveyancer and notary in Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape. The firm took general work at first, but since 1998 it has done only conveyancing and property law. Its head office is at 23 Sandra Road in Ballito, with a Johannesburg office in Maxwell Office Park, Midrand, and an East London office in Tecoma House, Berea, where conveyancer Catherine Gray is its local associate.
Johan's son Vincent Engelbrecht (LLB cum laude, Free State) is the second director. Molepe Mathaila (BA Law, LLB, LLM) consults on conveyancing, mineral law, town planning and township establishment, and Tamara Engelbrecht and Clarice van Rooyen are on the legal team. A group of senior conveyancing paralegals, several with more than 20 years at the firm, run the files.
The work is residential transfers, bond registrations and cancellations, servitudes, opening sectional title registers and establishing townships anywhere in the country. Instructions come mainly from bond originators, estate agents, developers and banks. The firm says it sends staff out to have documents signed and hand-delivers bank undertakings to cut registration times. Offices open weekdays from 09:00 to 17:00.
