Du Plooy Inc was founded in 2005 by Johann du Plooy, an attorney and conveyancer who also holds an MBA. The firm was previously known as KVV Du Plooy Inc and Steyn Wilson Inc. Fellow directors are Lourina Wilson, who has more than 30 years in property, wills, trusts and estates, and Joseph Leotlela, a director since 2017 who handles mortgage bonds and liaison with banks. The firm says it has about 40 staff across two offices: 178 Danie Crescent Road, Risidale, Johannesburg, and 3B Village Lane in the Hemel en Aarde Village, Sandbaai, Hermanus.

Since 2005 the firm has worked only in property law and conveyancing. It says it has registered more than 50,000 property transfers, including work on large township and housing developments such as Cosmo City, Steyn City and Savanna City. Day to day it handles transfers, bond registrations and cancellations, subdivisions and consolidations, opening sectional title registers, development work, wills and deceased estates. Buyers and sellers can follow their matter through an online client portal.

The Hermanus office is open 08:00 to 16:30 on weekdays, and the Johannesburg office 08:00 to 17:00. The firm also runs a training centre for estate agents and mortgage originators.
